The Paradise Valley Town Council showed their strong support for the tourism industry at their May 27 council meeting. At the meeting, they adopted a three-part proposal to increase bed tax by 0.4 percent, which is effective Aug. 1, 2010; provide a higher percentage of bed tax revenue to the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau; and enter a five-year agreement with the Scottsdale CVB for destination marketing on behalf of the Town. In the first three years of the agreement, the contribution from bed tax revenue will be a fixed amount per year, including a 50 percent increase in the amount of funding from 2009-10 to 2010-11.
In year four and five of the agreement, the CVB will receive 40.9 percent of the bed tax revenue collected by Paradise Valleys’ resorts. This partnership further solidifies the 23-year relationship between the Scottsdale CVB and the Town of Paradise Valley. As partners, the Scottsdale CVB can build the region’s attractiveness in the eyes of our visitors.
